"Running has been my passion for many years. Throughout my life, school and career, running has helped me become who I am today and who I will be tomorrow. Running has given me my identity and character. Because I have gained so much from my experience as a runner, I would love to help inspire men and women of all ages to accomplish their running goals and become the runners they aspire to be. I pledge to not just simply sell a shoe, but to provide the best equipment and knowledge for each individual runner and athlete." ~ Omar Ortega
Omar began running competitively in 7th grade after joining Students Run L.A. (SRLA). While with SRLA, Omar trained for his first Los Angeles Marathon, a pattern he has repeated every year since. After high school, Omar ran for Moorpark College, setting personal records in Cross Country, the Steeple Chase and 5000m while ultimately being inducted into the Moorpark College Hall of Fame. In 2003, Omar transferred to Arizona State University, competing in Cross Country. Omar has served as Assistant Coach for the Cross Country teams at Phoenix College, Mountain Pointe High School and Betty Fairfax High School.
